Assignment Task
Historical and Conceptual Themes in Psychology
For this assessment, you should produce a literature review in response to the following question;
What are the key characteristics of psychology that make it a science?
In order to do this effectively, you should plan a search strategy (i.e. think about relevant key words, appropriate sources, dates of publications etc.) to identify relevant psychological literature using the University online library resources and other search databases that enable access to full-text articles (e.g. Google Scholar). It is important that in answering this question, you adopt a critical focus (i.e. consider key strengths, limitations and implications), to demonstrate your ability to draw on your breadth of knowledge across the module to build a critical, evidence-based review of the literature.
The literature review should adopt a structure that gives an initial introduction to the area in question, a brief summary of the search strategy, a main discussion of literature identified (organised into appropriate sections/themes) and a conclusion. Writing style and references should adhere to APA conventions.
