The ICSEA (Index of Community and Socio-Educational Advantage) of the school is 1129. Of the students
at the school 59?ll within the top quarter of the distribution with a further 30% in the upper-middle
quarter. The average ICSEA is 1000.
65% of students have a language background other than English. The students within the school
represent 36 different cultural groups and the main languages spoken are Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean
and Arabic.
The school has five identified Indigenous students enrolled this year.
The school has 28.6 teaching staff and 3.96 non-teaching staff. The school employs six School Learning
Support Officers (SLSOs) to support students with additional learning needs in academic and social
domains.
With a student population comprised of so many students from diverse language backgrounds, the
school has a very strong English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) program. This is staffed by
three full-time teachers and one part-time teacher. These are specialist teachers that provide targeted
English language support to students for whom English is a second language. There are several students
in each year group who have recently immigrated to Australian and participate in the New Arrivals
Program (NAP).
A strong relationship with Macquarie University exists through the implementation of the MultiLit
Program throughout the school.
The Parents and Citizens Association is very active and engages in multiple fundraising events throughout
the year which allow the school to buy technology and other resources to enhance student learning.
They also help to fund the school canteen.
Creative arts are valued by the school. Students are invited to participate in junior and senior choirs,
junior and senior dance groups, junior and senior band, Ryde Schools Spectacular and Wakakirri.
Students in Years 3-6 are invited to participate in PSSA sport throughout the year
