Based on the resources available in Bloomsbury Design Library and elsewhere, choose one of the following major design movements/themes in order to explain Modern Design as a social and historical phenomenon: Post-war Design: Material Innovation At the end of the Second World War, many countries increased their industrial output as they rebuilt their economies. In your article, explore and explain the difference and relationship between modernism, modernisation and modernity and how these developments were manifested in the promotion, practice and consumption of modern/modernist design. When writing, your team will need to consider what are the key design principles of the movement, describe and discuss the developments in the selected place, making reference to the wider framework such as aesthetic, technological advancement, industrial, cultural, conceptual, economic and environmental.
