Task Overview Students will compose music according to a directors design brief which includes the aim, purpose, instrumentation, character and genre for a movie scene.
Purpose This assignment accomplishes learning outcome 1, 2 and 3 provided in the course outline – to ‘compose music that evokes emotion and characters’,‘ showcase instrumental capabilities and timbre in scoring’ and ‘analyse key film music works according to theme, genre and characters’.

Instructions Students will adapt and orchestrate their Folio Task #1 theme melody for chamber orchestra.
The music should go for a minute.
Students are to write for:
2 Flutes or 1 Flute and 1 Piccolo
2 Clarinets
1 Alto
3 Violins, 1 Cello and 1 Double bass (kept simple!).
