Assignment Task
The Oral Presentation is worth 15% of the overall semester mark.
Record a formal presentation on a psychological test, lasting no more than five minutes. A list of tests
to choose from is available on Moodle. You should describe (i) the rationale for why the test was
developed, (ii) how the test is administered, (iii) how the test is scored, (iv) an example of a clinical or
research question that the test can be used to address, and (v) pros and cons of the test, including
concrete recommendations for improvement. The main aim of the exercise is to ensure that students
can articulate the development, administration and scoring of psychological tests. Students should
also show a capacity to critique a test in terms of its strengths and limitations.
Evaluation Foci
1. Evidence of comprehension
2. Clarity of summary
3. Demonstrable effort at critique
Please refer to the marking rubric, which has been uploaded to Moodle, for more guidance for what to
include in your presentation.
Presentation Format
Students are welcome to choose the format of their presentation. In essence, you are to submit a
narrated PowerPoint presentation (or equivalent). You may choose to use another program to make
your presentation if you wish. If you look at the marking rubric, marks are awarded for content rather
than for fancy presentation, but feel free to go above and beyond if you find Microsoft PowerPoint too
plain.
